Bridal Shower Dessert Table

I was super excited to style this event. Friends of the bride threw her a memorable bridal shower. They chose hot pink and black for the colors. The table was dressed with a hot pink table cloth and white fabric was swagged along the edge. It was tied off with black bows.

Lil' chocolate candy bows and corsets were made for the tops of the cupcakes. 

They were also displayed on a platter.

Tissue pom pom balls and a name banner were made. 

Each letter of the banner had a ruffle of black lace.

Center pieces were topped off with a hot pink tissue ball 

and black crystal beads were hung down the center of the glass vase.

Glass jars held different scents of potpourri and guests were able to 

fill lil' organza bags with potpourri.

Each bag was tied off with a lil' thank you tag so the bride can be remembered 

every time they see the bag in their lingerie drawer. 

Altogether, it was a fun party to style!

      :::Elmo Party:::

This party was short, sweet and to the point! 

The Little Gym is a great place where you can invite 12 of your child’s friends for an hour 

 to jump around and celebrate your lil’ one! 

That’s just what we did for my daughter’s 2nd birthday! I styled their party room head to toe “Elmo.”

At the time, my daughter was obsessed with Elmo; what 2 year isn’t?

 But I could not find a party favor that did him justices…so I made one. 

I bought red bouncy balls that I found at the grocery store and 

I bought paint markers from the craft store. 

It took me days but I painted Elmo’s face on every ball. 

I’ll admit it was a little eerie walking into the dining room at night 

having all the Elmo balls staring at me! 

Needless to say, they were a big hit with the kids!

My best friend, Angelica Acosta made her famous cupcakes and 

we dressed them with hand painted chocolate Elmo faces. I found the chocolate mold on ebay. 

 

 I also made Elmo cake pops, my first attempt, and decided right then and there that 

I will leave this task to the professionals!

Of course my lil’ fam bam was decked out in Elmo gear. I found my daughter’s ensemble on eBay. The Tutu Fairy helped me out with a personalized Elmo shirt and red tutu! 

She totally looked the part! The party was a hit and my daughter enjoyed herself!

Gnome Party

My sister threw a party for her best friend's "Golden Birthday"...23 on the 23rd! 

We didn't know what type of theme to have since it was an after hour, BYOB party.

Inspiration came on a walk one day. 

I passed a overly, decorated house with lots of garden "art."

There he was...a fat gnome standing beside a sun bleached flamingo! 

He was my lil' muse! 

We literally had no budget...so the only way to style this event was with items I already had. 

I used lanterns with red candles and a lil' bit of nature, which the last time I checked is free. 

I made the miniature birthday banner out of foam and wire. 

The lil' gnomes came to life with felt, thread and hot glue. 

The decorations turned out great and the birthday girl was amused. 

The best part about the design was it came off the tables quickly for beer pong!

Love Note Tree

Love Note Tree with Owls for a Baby Shower

I'm excited to share my Love Note Tree. It was the first time I've done one. One of my good friends is having a baby boy and a beautiful owl themed baby shower was thrown for her. I was overjoyed to be able to create this tree for her and the big event.  The tree was set up in a black and white, believe or not, trash can. The tree is actually a large branch that I cut down from a dying peach tree in my mom's backyard. I designed owl note cards that hung from the branches. Guests were asked to write a note of love to the mommy to be or to the new baby. I also made two little felt owls that added to the overall design and theme.

DIY: How to make Tissue Paper Flowers

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and most people think that you need to go out and buy flowers for their loved one. But who can actually afford the $90 arrangement? Instead,  be creative and make them feel extra special with a hand made bouquet for less than $5. Guaranteed to make your valentine feel loved!

Princess Party

The big day had finally arrived! The princess party at the park. 

I was skeptical about how to style the space. 

Let's be honest, parks are usually dirty, sandy and grungy to say the least. 

But this location was beautiful. 

The park had a huge, architecturally designed gazebo. 

From afar it actually looked like a castle. 

It had large pillars and open beams, 

which made for artfully hung and draped crepe paper.

I designed a banner that hung above the entrance, inviting everyone in.

Each table had a vase of freshly cut tissue paper flowers, 

hand made from pink, purple and white tissue paper. 

We decorated the tables with jewels, 

that the kids used to decorate their crowns.

We also had a princess makeover station, 

where the girls got their nails painted and their make-up done. 

What park party is complete without a pinata? 

On the flip side, it is a little cynical to whack the heck out of a princess pinata so 

we decided to have a dragon pinata made instead. 

The kids, especially the lil' knights, enjoyed slaying the dragon!

The kids also enjoyed searching for the stolen princess treasure. 

I designed a treasure map, and we buried a treasure box filled with chocolate coins. We placed a paper red X that marked the spot.

Besides the birthday princess, the dessert table stole the show. 

The table was draped in tulle and flowers with ribbons that draped the edges.

A silver castle settled in the middle was the eye catching centerpiece, 

complete with a horse drawn carriage and flower trees.

Every detail made for an impressive backdrop for the strawberry cupcakes. 

They were baked by Angelica Acosta and did not disappoint.

I found the cutest lil' tiara cupcake toppers to decorate them. 

The top of the cupcake stand was adorned with 

a figurine of the birthday girl herself, as a princess character. 

The pennant banner above simply stated "Taylor."

In the end, the party was a big success. 

Lil' cheeks were blushed, cupcakes were devoured, 

the dragon was slayed and the birthday princess was celebrated. 

All in all, it was a party to be remembered!

Princess Party Silver Castle Centerpiece

 

I'm getting ready for the Princess Party this weekend. I wanted to create something really special for the main center piece of the dessert table. I found a toy castle and sprayed painted it silver. It turned out so cute. I also made lil' rose trees to go on either side of the castle.  I'll post pictures of the event soon!
